let's hear it for the boy

dan decided to take the week off work. he told me that he was in charge of the boys and i could do whatever i wanted.
i think he's a pretty cool husband and i thought i would take a quick moment to let all of you know why...

*dan is a comic book nerd.

*he makes me laugh

*he always tries to rough house with the boys just before bed

*he calls me attractive when it's 2pm, i'm unshowered, in sweats, and have yesterdays mascara smeared under my eyes

*he's been doing the dishes ever since my first pregnancy nausea

*he turns everything I say into an innuendo and it never makes sense
(i.e. me-I'm making soup for dinner.
him-I'll make your soup for dinner.)

*he willingly got a parking ticket on our first date, a byu game, because he didn't want to miss kickoff.

*Parker thinks the world of him

*he loves his mom and rubs her feet

*he takes teasing well

*he raves about my mediocre cooking

*he is currently designing a quilt for parker (his idea)

*he has to see movies the day they come out

*he has a shoe fetish

*he is my human space heater

*82% of his vocabulary is movie and t.v. lines

*he calls me to get stats whenever the boys go for their well checkup
(he loves to hear %tile for height)

*he's a very good salesman

*he never gets sick

*he's friends with my brothers

*he doesn't eat leftovers

*he's just a big kid

*whenever i'm ranting or raving about something, he says
"no question" in agreement

*he gets the boys ready for church every sunday

*when i wear heels, i'm taller than him. even though i hate it, he says he doesn't mind

*he read all 4 Twilight books for me

*his proposal was very elaborate

*he can never keep a secret. i always know what i'm getting for Christmas/birthday

*he put a box of tissue in my stocking last year

*he was amazed when my mom made a layered cake once. he said "how did you get the frosting in the middle?!"

*he rolls his eyes whenever i tell that story

*he loves, loves, loves his boys

*he loves diving boards

*he took me to cabo san lucas on our honeymoon and no one would speak spanish with him

*he and parker have a secret handshake of sorts

*he thinks he knows how to tickle but it really just hurts

*he refuses to listen to modern music

*his idea of cleaning up after dinner is eating the leftovers off of everyone's plate

* he gets caden every morning so i can stay in bed longer

*he hates to shave (obviously!)

*he's very competative

*he hates the game CLUE

*he always let's me get my way

My unbiased Twilight review

Firstly, I would like to say 'yeah yeah!' for the awesome t-shirt design that Candis {the great} created. We were sportin the above beauty on black tees. We looked divine.
I had a fab time at the party, despite the 'shrooms in the ravioli. That's right, we had mushroom ravioli and coke. Get it Twilight fans? We played games and socialized and made t-shirts. Tons of fun. I will not post any pictures from the party because I looked nothing less than scary. (Nothing says 'let's party' like turquoise eyeshadow and fake eyelashes, right?)

Now let's get down to the meat and potatoes. I do not want to spoil it for anyone who is seeing it tonight, so I will give no opinions. But I will say I found Kristen Stewart to be a very convincing Bella and really pretty in the way I thought Bella should be. And Robert Pattinson was certainly dazzling! There were too many scenes where he was gorgeous beyond reason. And Jackson Rathborne (Jasper) wasn't too shabby looking himself. I can't wait to see it again just so I can stare at their beautiful faces. SIGH

HAPPY TWILIGHT MOVIE TO THOSE SEEING IT TONIGHT! :)

a little beauty tip

{This may bore some of you who already know this.}
My cute sister-in-law / graphic art student Maddie never wears makeup. She doesn't really need to. But one day she wore just mascara and we could not compliment her enough! Her hair was blonder, her skin seemed tanner, her cheeks were rosy and her eyes were brighter. Then she told us why she thought that was. When painting a portrait, you have to have two elements: Black and bright color. They compliment and enhance each other. Since she has blue eyes and pink cheeks, all she needed to add was black (mascara). I thought that was funny since I wear bright pink blush if I only have time for one thing. My face is full of black! And if I wear just mascara, I look like a raccoon. The next time we have family pictures, I'm going to wear my pink blush - I love liquid 'cause it makes my cheeks shiny - and bright pink lipstick. We'll see if I look like a clown.

oop

I meant to dye my hair dark brown, but it turned out closer to black. Now everyone tell me that it looks natural and doesn't make me pasty. (but only if that's what you really think of course!)

Better Late Than Never

Here is the tag Jessica passed on to me in September- Woo!
The Rules:

1. Post the rules of the tag on your blog
2. Write 6 random facts about yourself
3. Tag 6 people at the end of your post

4. If you get tagged, do it! And have fun. :)

Random Fact No. 1: I made both mine and my sister's wedding dress I love to sew. Not particularly wedding dresses, it's a pain fitting them and I will only do it for very special people. But I do love to sew, fancy myself fairly creative, and hope one day it will make me some dolla.

Random Fact No. 2: My mother-in-law set Dan and Me up It's true! Carmen was my manager at work, (she actually sought me out to work there) and she would always talk about her missionary and how he would write home that he's balding. So when he came home she asked if I would play with him. (I was like "Ew-No! Balding?") But it turned out he wasn't that bald, he was pretty cute and the rest is history.

Random Fact No. 3: I hate being pregnant but I love childbirth
I'm not some tree-hugging-hippy-embrace-nature-becoming-one-with-your-body type of gal. My deliveries aren't easier or harder than the next person's either. But there is nothing to top the experience. I love every aspect of it (pain, anxiety, excitement, joy) because it makes it what it is. And my favorite part is that the universe stops a brief moment for you and this tiny person you adore more than anything. whew! I'm getting jazzed just thinking about it!
(P.S. I blow up like the good year blimp when I'm pregnant!)

Random Fact No. 4: I have a dang big family And I love every stinking one of them. We love to play games and be loud and weird and sometimes make fun of other people (mostly just to boost our own self-esteem) but we have a great time when we're all together. My brother Matty (dead center) is serving in the
Cherry Hill, New Jersey mission right now. He comes home in January.

Random Fact No. 5: I desperately want a daughter I have 5 younger brothers and can recall wishing for a little sister on my birthday candles multiple times. I am very into playing dress-up, and makeup, and tea parties, and doing hair, and I really, really want a daughter. Or a niece or something. (I have a growing box of girl things I've bought with each pregnancy.)

Random Fact No. 6: I hate 'shrooms! A mushroom walks into a bar and asks a girl to dance. "I'm sorry," she says, "I don't dance with vegetables." The mushroom objects, "But I'm a fun guy!" (fungi) Mushrooms are gross.

Well that's it for me. Instead of tagging six individuals, I will just ask that at least six of you do this on your blog. Yeah - you know who you are, and don't think I won't check!

Ch Ch Ch Changes

Turn and face the strange - David Bowie
So, the snow on the ground yesterday confirmed what I've been feeling in my bones. Changes are coming fast and furious! Change in the weather, change in our President, and big ol' changes for our country. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Obama, he just makes me very nervous! I don't hate change either, I just don't like it when it's a change I didn't choose. Oh well, we shall see . . .
Hey, speaking of changes. After many hours of hard labor, Dan and I have assembled and installed our new book cases. (As I've said before, YAY!) I'll be sure to post pictures of my library-esque front room - just as soon as I do that tag I got like 2 years ago from Jessica. And one other change to note: someone is gradually trading my difficult Parker for a sweet and cooperative one. He hasn't been very social and hasn't been eating, to name a few. But yesterday at the store, he deliberately got the sample lady's attention then said "Hello!" And we are 3 for 3 eating dinner this week. And yesterday he was trying to tell me about the star and moon he was holding but I was looking down. So he pulled up my chin and said "look at me." Then he proceeded to talk. Now where did he get that from?
P.S. This Jane Austin action figure could kick G.I. Joe's butt! Will someone please buy me this for Christmas?!

FYE

Things I'm Looking Forward To:
* Christmas!!!
* My sister Jessica's new house
* My bro Matty coming home from his mission (Cherry Hill, NJ)
* The Twilight movie and accompanying party- HELLO!
* Did I say Christmas?
Things That Make Me Smile:
* The dimples on the back of Caden's chubby hands (esp. when he's clapping)
* Parker singing 'Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' all over the house
* When Dan hugs me from behind
* My new book cases- YAY!
* Caden's one-toothed smile
Things That I am Day-Dreaming About:
* A cozy cabin in the woods
* Being able to have a conversation with Parker
* Dan being made a team leader at work
* Getting my basement finished
* Getting paid to be creative but having someone else do the work

Holla-ween!

I got that from Hil. Here is the scoop on our Halloween madness. We had a big ole party for fun, young people such as ourselves. Everyone was too cute and dressed up. (Aimee gets a pass for being Super Mom, having a hurt foot and changing Caden's diaper as soon as she got there.) Obviously we were 'The Cat in the Hat.' I'm 'Mother'- some people didn't get that part. I made all our costumes and most of decorations and I set out the food. But all my frantic planning did not go to waste. A party is only as good as the people who come to it and I would like to thank everyone for making my night! {Check out the slide show!}
For Halloween we went to both sets of Grandparent just to remind them how cute their Grandsons are. It was a lot of fun! We ate too much candy and stayed up too late. Perfection!
Just before Trick or Treating

For Dan's work costume contest, I also made these costumes.
I was up til 3:30 am!
I will now accept my award for Craziest Halloween Enthusiast.
Siegfried, Roy and Bubbles (Look at Dan's sad wig)
They took 2nd place to Jane Fonda
One last THANK YOU to Candis and Jessica for letting me steal their cute pictures for my slide show.
