Corn Belly's

We've started this tradition that I really love of going to Thanksgiving Point to Corn Belly's.
(I think they spell it 'Corn Bellies' though, which is grammatically incorrect because 'Corn Belly' is a character and it's his place. 'Corn Bellies' refers to multiple bellies.)
Any who, there are so many fun things to do! Tons of kids activities and it's practically all inclusive. Unfortunately, this year it was so bleeding cold we couldn't stay for too long.Caden was happy as a clam as long as he had something to chew on. This was his first year at the Belly's because last year he was a fish in the amniotic sea.
Parker was having way too much fun. He couldn't be bothered for a picture.
My cutie pie nephew Korbin enjoying a ride in the corn wagon. Just look at those blue eyes!
And that blond hair? It's enough to make Hitler drool!
My goofball baby brother Jared. Definitely a favorite with Parker.
We ended the evening with a hay ride. That has been my favorite part both years. They have a few cheesy 'scary' elements to it though. Like a hydraulic snake coming out of the corn stalks and hovering over us. Parker covered his eyes most of the time after that. It was really cute!
*Those of you who attended my party last night, would you mind e-mailing me any pics you took? Mine are kind of minimal and I want to blog the occasion properly.*(carolyngeddes@gmail.com)

update quickie

Just when we thought he couldn't get cuter, Caden got his first tooth. The second one is on it's way. He had his 9 month checkup on Monday. He is in the 97th percentile for height. I guess we are just breeding our own tribe of Amazons! Oh wait- super models.
We carved pumpkins on Wednesday. Parker was so grossed out by the guts but he loved stabbing the pumpkins randomly

oooh! SPOOKY

Parker is a potty-training machine! He gets to put a sticker on the chart every time he goes. And I'm happy to announce we haven't had a dookie on the floor in a very long time!

YOU'VE BEEN PHANTOMED!

Jessica and I used to do this when we were teenagers. You can do it any time of year but I think it's especially appropriate during October. You get a giant refrigerator box and cut a long rectangular hole in the front just wide enough so you and another person can see. Keep the top taped but open the bottom so you can walk. You bake a plate or two of cookies and wait until dark. Pull the box over you and a friend, leave the plate of cookies on someones porch, ring the doorbell, then go stand on their lawn. When they open the door you shout in a booming and ominous voice, "YOU'VE BEEN PHANTOMED!" Then you slowly back away. It's hilarious because they are so confused by the giant talking cardboard box on their lawn. One time as J and I were backing away we tripped over a pothole in the grass. Picture an enormous box on it's side with four legs wriggling out the bottom like a turtle on it's back.
You can even make it into one of those chain things where they hang a picture on their door and they have to 'phantom' two other people.

oop!

Well I think the link to my sisters blog didn't work. You can go to her family blog which is listed to the right (we are a happy family) and follow the link on there. It's called the The Five Wise Virgins and it's in the upper right hand corner of her blog.

This Girl Knows How to Work It

My lovely sister Jessica has started a new blog regarding preparation, food storage and other related issues. She also has some links on there for good resource websites. (72 hr kit) This is a subject she has recently become passionate about and I think we can expect some good things on here!

Step on this

I love this rug I found at homedecorators. And it's not too expensive - for a rug. I'm thinking blue for my family room. The question is, do you think it will stand up well to fecal matter?

It seems I've been cleaning that out of the carpet a lot these days...

Think About It

Here is Flight of the Conchords' take on the world today. They're from New Zealand so sometimes it's a little hard to understand them. Just imagine an English accent that's been stepped on. I find that helps to decipher. If you don't think they're funny, don't tell me. It would shatter my entire universe. (Also, this is my rebuttal to the comment Jessica posted about my 'things that totally go with this blog')

Fear is lack of knowledge

So right now we are reading in the B.O.M. about Samuel the Lamenite. He prophesied to the Nephites that they needed to get their act together and that a savior was coming. Well only 5 short years later, Jesus Christ was born. I thought about President Hinkley's last message to us: Get your food storage together, get ready! It's only been one year and already we've had a hurricane, a housing crisis, and now the $700 billion bank bailout, to name a few. (We bank at Washington Mutual!! But we can't close our account until our tax refund -don't ask- is direct deposited!) I don't know about you folks but I think he meant it! If you are like me and don't exactly know where to start with getting prepared, I'm posting my food storage list. This is a basic one year supply for one person. I would suggest buying more if you can since most of us have more than one person in a household. Keep in mind it's bare essentials, no luxuries. (i.e. toilet paper, peaches, cheese) I taped mine to my pantry door and just check them off as I buy them. It certainly gives me piece of mind knowing I'm doing something. It will be interesting to see what General Conference talks will bring. Good Luck all!
