clearly we need to teach this kid the value of money

for st. patty's day at Parker's preschool, the kids were asked what they would do if they found a pot of gold.
the replies were: buy a swimming pool... buy a playground... buy lots of pets... buy a hot tub...

Parker said, "I would turn the pot of gold into lava and a volcano and it would melt the ground."
at least he's not boring.

so these days, my rear seems to be firmly planted on the couch with a baby firmly planted on my you know what, watching either the backyardigans or this. i love this show! she takes old homes and restores them immaculately to their former glory. plus she looks like a 5'2" blond kristen stewart with the mouth of a sailor cursing in a minnesota accent. adorable.
speaking of minnesota accents, one of my fave movies is drop dead gorgeous. allison janney is hilarious! go and watch it sometime if you have a dark sense of humor. but don't tell me if you don't think it's funny because i'll only insult your wit.

a little less than 5 weeks ago, i had a baby.
here's a little bit about him.

we named him Jude Leo Geddes.

he looks just like his daddy.

he did not want to come out. he was a week overdue. my labor started at 6am feb 5,
and he wasn't born until 1am feb 6. and he fought against every contraction.

he does not share his mother's affinity for baths.

but he does share his mother's fondness for his brothers.

and they sure are fond of him too.

he is my spoonful of sugar that helps the medicine go down.
and my extremely possessive boyfriend that won't let me do anything with out him.
good thing he's a talented snuggler.

it was supposed to be a burning building. the little firefighters are putting it out. everyone assumed it was the fire station and wondered why the windows were bleeding.

and the sugar coma sets in.

well my due date came and went. and with the tiny of exception of some labor-like activity last sunday, this kid is staying put! i've done all that i can do! i've tried EVERYTHING. now it's time for my doctor to do all that he can do. that's right folks - i'm getting induced! next monday. but don't cry for me argentina. although i wanted a natural childbirth, it's not the end of my universe to go the tried and true pitocin + epidural route. i just want a healthy baby at the end of the day.

so in the meantime i've been doing all those decorating and sewing projects i didn't think i had time for. and shopping.

i am a big fan of swaddling my babies. and i'm in love with the new cotton - pod models that are on the market. I've shown this one from cozi-bug before. it's a touch pricey at $54.
this one is so darling with the dwell rockets. it's an etsy seller: maternalNest and is a little more affordable at $42.

But i wanted to make my own. It takes less than a yard of fabric each for outer and lining and then i could line with flannel. {most i've seen are lined with minky which is a dreamy fabric but in my opinion not ideal for swaddling since it's polyester.}
I found a great Kwik Sew pattern that i used to make these. {3734} it was very economical at $12. but i rounded the edges. it's cuter. like dumbo's ears when his mama wraps him up. try watching that movie and not bawling.

and if you still want cheaper than that, i found a free swaddler pattern at craft gossip. they are fun to make and surely would be a well received gift should you be attending a shower soon! Speaking of showers, mine is still on for saturday. unless my water breaks. but i'm not holding my breath. if you didn't get an invite - a thousand apologies.
